"Mikala was my doula when I had my first baby earlier this year. She was absolutely amazing and so supportive throughout my entire journey.

I met her at a baby expo and she was the only Doula I met that day that I truly felt connected to her right away. I could tell immediately it wasn’t just a job for her, but she actually cares. With it being my first pregnancy I of course had so many questions. She answered all of them and even gave me resources to explore other topics further.

While my husband stood at my back and offered his silent support I had Mikala in front of me looking into my eyes. After my son was born, I looked at my husband and told him Mikala is going to be a must have support person for any future births I may have! I truly don’t know how I would go through birth without her."

It’s clear that working in the world of birth is what Mikala is meant to do, and bringing her onto my birth team was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. She brought so much peace to me and my husband through our birth journey. She is a blessing to every baby she helps guide into this world and every momma she helps guide to motherhood. If you’re thinking about getting a doula, do it! And if she has availability in her schedule, choose Mikala.

When I was first envisioning my labor and birth I wasn’t sure if I wanted a doula, but decided it would bring extra support to my birth team. As soon as my husband and I met Mikala we felt comfortable. She was so supportive of me listening to my body leading up to labor, and really encouraged me to trust myself. She walked with us through parks in early labor, stuck by my side at the birth center and encouraged me as labor intensified, and when things didn’t go according to plan accompanied us to the hospital for an unplanned c-section. In a time of high emotions and uncertainty she was so kind, knowledgeable, and supportive of me and my husband. I can’t imagine our birth without her!

Mikala was the Doula I needed to help advocate for me & bring my baby into this life. I absolutely recommend her! She is joyful in helping EVERY pregnant Mama bring their baby into this world, & incredibly calm with experience & determination no matter what happens along the Birth Journey. (I highly recommend her to take photos & videos, too!) I met Mikala at a Birth Expo & a tiny spark ignited. She impressively gave me her full, undivided attention to answer any questions I had. But I forgot to get her info! This spark grew in the back of my mind until a Midwife recommended I have a Doula to help support my Labor & Birth experience. My OB at the time did not recommend any kind of alternative help outside of giving birth at a hospital. I immediately remembered Mikala & my heart grew aflamed with encouragement. I was in my third trimester, but Lord willing she was available around my due date. Mikala did a home visit for educational purposes with me & my husband. It just felt like a BFF was getting me ready for birth. My husband liked her as well because "she has been through four of her own births & this is our first!" Mikala is passionate about her education & it showed in how joyful she was in explaining as much as she could about what I might experience during labor & delivery. My baby was "late", but once my contractions started, without my water breaking, I texted Mikala & we continued to stay in touch so I could labor at home, until she phoned to hear my voice & instructed us to get to the hospital! Once at the hospital, Mikala was consistently at my side to help advocate & direct my husband- which was great because I became primal/feral & my mind went elsewhere 😅. During my 24hr laboring Mikala WORKED! She provided so much relief & guidance it still brings me to tears. Her calm demeanor, her humor, & her gentle assertiveness met me exactly when I needed it. She befriended all the hospital staff that assisted me as well. She gave me juices (& snuck me a food!) to keep my endurance up. Anything I asked for she answered & provided. My L&D did not go as I had envisioned. My cervix popped back after 10cm & wouldn't budge for hours. Mikala was right by my side trying every natural solution she & the midwives knew. I needed to have an IV, an epidural I was terrified of, & ultimately my baby needed to be vacuumed out. Mikala calmly advocated for me, talked me through every step of each intervention, & helped me to perfect "horse lip" breathing until it was time to push. She gave me the REAL talk- the push I needed to get my baby out. Thankfully Mikala took photos & videos. After such a long labor, my baby needed interventions & Mikala's documentation helped me later to heal from the experience. Mikala visited for a postpartum follow-up & used her knowledge of resources to help me network for services for my baby. She is a wealth of wisdom! I cannot recommend this woman enough. Her incredible strength is shared & given to every Mama's birth she attends. My soul is forever changed for the good because she led me through the fire of childbirth.

Of all the decisions I made concerning the birth of my first child, bringing Mikaela on as my doula was the most significant. I truly don’t know if I could have done it without her! Mikaela is a steady, calm presence, an excellent coach, hands-on with help you didn’t even know you needed. I am grateful for the birth experience she helped shape, I highly recommend her to any woman looking for doula.
